Stitch Fix - April 2014 Review

Stitch Fix is a subscription service where a stylist sends you five items each month based on your profile. You pick what you'd like to keep and send back what you don't like.

I was so excited for my April Stitch Fix delivery and absolutely thrilled that it came in three days early. My stylist this month was Sara.

Ellyse Floral Print Flutter Sleeve Dress - $48.00

I asked Stitch Fix this month to send me something to wear to church for Easter Sunday and that I would even consider a dress! Anyone who knows me, knows this is a big deal. I made the mistake of not being specific enough.

I'm a bit self-conscious about my legs. I never wear shorts and when I do wear dresses at or above the knee, I always wear nylons. So, this dress was cute, but showed off a bit too much leg. I would have preferred a nice, long, maxi dress.

Also, the flowery, bubbly look just isn't me. It was really cute, I loved the sleeves, but it just wasn't my style.

Colleen Geo Print Tie-Neck Blouse - $48.00

When I put this one on, I actually laughed. The sleeves stuck straight up and pointed at the ceiling. I threw on my off-white blazer and it helped to cover up the sleeves.

I really liked the little pattern on this blouse, and I do think it went well with my blazer, but I couldn't get past the tie-neck. Without the tie-neck, I think this one would have been a keeper. Once again, it's just not me.

Adora Skinny Jean - $88.00

Oh, look! The Jaimie Eyelet Striped Cardigan I got in last month's Fix has made another appearance. It's matched with a pair of "honeydew" colored jeans. They look more like a powder blue to me, but that's beside the point.

These jeans fit very tight and were very long. I don't mind long jeans as I have long legs, but this pair fit more like a pair of tights than of jeans. The material was also a bit too thin for my liking.

The fact is, in order for me to spend $88 on a pair of jeans, I have to love them. I just didn't feel the love.

Luci Airy Knit Scoop Neck Sweater - $48.00

The stylist sent this to me saying it was the sweater I had posted on Pinterest. However, the color, fit, and style are all different. Yes, they're both airy knit sweaters, but that's about where the similarity ends.

I really liked this one when I pulled it out of the box. However, after I put it on with a light colored tank-top as suggested by the leaflet inserted in the Stitch Fix box, I thought the fit made the shirt a bit too revealing. It showed off all my curves, good and bad.

Once I tried it on with a darker tank-top, however, I liked it much better.

Lydia Faceted Stones Long Necklace - $38.00

Stitch Fix necklace (left) and my necklace (right)
This necklace (left) was the first piece of jewelry that I received from Stitch Fix. It was listed as "light pink" and I could see a trace of the pink, but compared to the necklace I already have (right), it seemed kind of bland.

Overall

This Fix was a bit disappointing. Although many of the items were nice, they didn't fit my style. The next time I make a request for a special event like Easter, I'll be sure to be more specific. I also think I'll check the floral prints as something not to send my way.

I really contemplated sending everything back and taking the $20 styling fee hit. In the long run, I decided to keep the Luci Airy Knit Scoop Neck Sweater.

My next Fix is scheduled for May 6, 2014.

  2. I got the Sweater and the geo print shirt in my fix too. I hted the geo shirt. The ruffles stuck straight up on me as well, and the necktie was not cute. I LOVED the sweater! I did the same thing with the light tank, and switched to a dark one. so much better!
